Maybank's corporate affairs and strategic comms head signs off after 20 years

After two decades at Maybank Singapore, executive vice president and head of corporate affairs and strategic communications Corrinne Tan is moving on from the bank.

Her exit brings to a close a chapter that spanned corporate affairs, customer experience, corporate social responsibility, strategic communications, data protection governance and bankwide change management.

In a farewell note sighted by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Tan said that she is moving on to a new opportunity.

“Now is the time for a strategic reallocation of capital, carrying twenty years of lessons, trust, and quiet pride, into a new chapter with, I believe, considerable long-term growth potential. I have a feeling our paths will cross again soon,” wrote Tan in the farewell note, which playfully adopted the language and structure of a corporate financial report.

When MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reached out, a Maybank spokesperson said, “We would like to thank Corrinne Tan for her contributions to the bank and wish her well in her future endeavours.”

During her tenure, Tan held a succession of leadership roles across the bank. She most recently served as executive vice president and head of corporate affairs and strategic communications from January 2025, after serving as executive vice president, head of corporate affairs and customer experience from April 2017, according to her LinkedIn.

Prior to that, she also took on the role of data protection officer and vice president, head of corporate social responsibility.

Throughout her career at Maybank, Tan led several initiatives across corporate affairs, customer experience and brand communications.  In 2015, she oversaw the bank’s customer experience transformation in Singapore, helping lift Maybank Singapore from last place to the top spot in the national Customer Satisfaction Index.

In 2024, she led the bank’s viral FOOH campaign for Mid-Autumn festival. The campaign featured the iconic Maybank tiger leaping into the night sky over the Maybank tower in Singapore. The “digital light show” also featured a festive wish and the bank’s logo. More recently, she oversaw the communications strategy for the Maybank XL Cards launch, repositioning the product through a lifestyle-led campaign instead of a traditional financial services launch.

In partnership with American Tourister, the campaign connected the card’s travel-inspired design with experiences across dining, shopping and entertainment, using creator collaborations, media seeding and experiential storytelling to present the card as a lifestyle companion rather than simply a payments product.

Tan’s move also comes as banks continue to refresh their leadership teams across marketing, communications and technology. Earlier this year, UOB appointed Marcus Chew as managing director, group retail marketing, after he spent four years leading marketing across Southeast Asia and South Asia at Lazada.

Meanwhile, DBS group chief analytics officer Sameer Gupta departed after 12 years to join Lloyds Banking Group, where he will oversee the bank’s data and AI strategy.
