reMarkable’s newest e-note doubles down on distraction-free digital writing

reMarkable’s new Paper Pure refines the E Ink notebook formula with a more responsive display, longer battery life, and improved integration with digital workflows. Digital paper tablets have been steadily carving out a niche for people who want a distraction-free device for writing, reading, and sketching. We’ve covered a few such tablets in the past, such as the reMarkable 2 and more recent color E Ink tablets, which have pushed the category further into the mainstream. reMarkable says the Paper Pure’s third-generation Canvas display and low-latency ink system are designed to closely mimic the feeling of writing on paperreMarkable reMarkable’s latest addition, the Paper Pure, takes a more polished approach with a lighter, faster black-and-white E Ink tablet focused primarily on handwriting and focused work. The 10.3-inch tablet uses a third-generation Canvas display, alongside the same textured writing surface found on the Paper Pro, with digital ink appearing within around 21 milliseconds. reMarkable also says that navigation, zooming, and page turns are up to twice as fast as on the reMarkable 2. Physically, the device retains the company’s minimalist aesthetic: it’s just 6-mm (0.2-in) thin, weighs 360 g (12.6 oz), and has grooved sides designed to resemble stacked sheets of paper. Battery life is rated at up to three weeks on a single charge. reMarkable is also leaning a little further into sustainability this time around, using 38% recycled materials and a screw-and-snap construction designed to improve repairability and reduce its carbon footprint. The Paper Pure integrates with laptops and cloud services, allowing your handwritten notes to be converted into editable digital textreMarkable On the software side, the Paper Pure expands the company’s cloud-based workflow tools. Integrations with Google Calendar, Outlook, OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, Slack, and Miro are all designed to move handwritten notes more fluidly between the tablet and desktop environments. AI-powered tools can convert handwriting into text and summarize notes, making your handwritten archives fully searchable – a feature that we’re seeing become the standard across the category. Pricing for the Paper Pure starts at US$399 bundled with the standard Marker stylus, and for $449, you can get the Sleeve Folio case added on top. The device joins the broader reMarkable lineup alongside the Paper Pro and the Paper Pro Move, while effectively replacing the now-discontinued reMarkable 2. Much like the company’s earlier devices, the Paper Pure works as a hybrid between a traditional notebook, an e-reader, and a productivity tablet. But where most modern tablets push multitasking and constant connectivity, reMarkable continues to subvert this trend, preserving simplicity and handwriting freedom, while still working seamlessly with modern cloud-based tools and work habits. If the company’s refinements do what it says, the Paper Pure is likely to further cement reMarkable’s position as one of the leading names in distraction-free digital note-taking. Red Bull’s 1,200-hp hypercar to rival Formula 1 is almost here

It’s been close to two years since Red Bull revealed the RB17, a low-slung aerodynamic hypercar teased as capable of generating nearly twice its own weight in downforce. Now, in 2026, we’re not too far away from the real thing. Designed by Adrian Newey, the same man behind Formula 1-winning cars for Williams and McLaren, the RB17 is claimed to be faster than any existing F1 car out there. The hypercar has now entered its final build phase, with final assembly now underway in Milton Keynes, UK. Track testing will follow ahead of an official launch scheduled for spring 2027 (Northern Hemisphere), with customer deliveries continuing through to the end of 2028. Only 50 units of the RB17 are set to be built, and every single one has already been allocated – despite a price tag of around US$6.7 million. Aerodynamics are a big part of the RB17Red Bull Advanced Technologies And there’s a good reason why. The RB17 is not merely another hypercar in the conventional sense. Rather, it was conceived as a proper track machine designed to deliver the closest possible experience to driving a real Formula 1 car. Its hypothetical lap time at Spa-Francorchamps is said to be around 1 minute 38 seconds – about a second faster than a modern Formula 1 car. That performance comes courtesy of a 1,200-hp 4.5-liter V10 developed by Cosworth, paired with a 200-horsepower electric motor and mated to an Xtrac gearbox. All of that power is packed into a car weighing just 1,984 lb (900 kg). The result is a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of under 3 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph (350 km/h). The RB17 sports a huge diffuser and a high-mounted wing directly on the rear frameRed Bull Advanced Technologies We’ve seen a few hypercars command similar price tags and produce similarly astonishing power outputs – the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro and Pagani Huayra R to name a couple of examples. But none of those cars are intended to stand toe-to-toe with a Formula 1 car. The RB17, on paper at least, is designed to do exactly that – and potentially even beat one on lap time. And then there’s the rumor that hypercar modifier Lanzante is developing a $600,000 conversion kit that would make the RB17 road legal, though it’s hard to imagine many owners choosing to commute in one. Visually, the RB17 has changed very little from its original reveal. Deep side channels direct airflow toward the rear, while a compact front aero section manages airflow across the bodywork. There’s also a massive diffuser and a high-mounted rear wing integrated into the rear frame. The exhaust is housed within a central spine running down the engine cover, with gases channeled beneath the wing to increase aerodynamic load. According to RB17 technical director Rob Gray, the car’s adaptive suspension system provides “a nice stable platform” and controlled ride height while generating up to 3,747 lb (1,700 kg) of downforce. The RB17 comes fitted with two front-hinged doors that swing forwardRed Bull Advanced Technologies The interior is just as fancy as the exterior. Inside is a compact, race-inspired cabin featuring “knobs and thumbwheels, not screens,” as Gray explains. The two-seat layout positions the passenger next to but slightly behind the driver, helping the cockpit feel more spacious than its dimensions suggest. Getting into the RB17 is unconventional, too. Instead of gullwing or butterfly doors, the car uses front-hinged doors that swing forward, allowing occupants to stand on the seat and effectively “drop into the car.” The RB17 feels less like a car and more like Adrian Newey finally being allowed to remove the handbrake from his imagination. No FIA regulations, no balance-of-performance politics, no cost caps – just one of Formula 1’s greatest designers building the sort of machine engineers probably sketch on napkins after a few drinks before dismissing it as impossible the next morning. Somehow, Red Bull actually decided to build it. The cost? Just $6.7 millionRed Bull Advanced Technologies And all of this arrives at a time when much of the automotive industry is shifting toward electrification and increasing digitalization. The RB17 clearly shows that brands like Red Bull are still willing to pursue a different approach – one centered on driving experience, aerodynamics and mechanical purity. And I’m all for it! Online retailers under scrutiny for deceptive website features

Seager Inc. (which operates Boarding Gate), Origin Sleep and Light In The Box have been found using misleading website tactics known as “dark patterns” to pressure consumers into making quicker purchase decisions, according to the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCS). The regulator said the three online retailers deployed fabricated urgency cues, including fake visitor counts, artificial countdown timers and false discount claims, to simulate demand and limited availability. At Boarding Gate’s website, messages such as “XX people are looking at this product right now” and “XX people added this item to cart” were displayed to suggest real-time demand. However, CCS found these figures were randomly generated and not based on actual user activity.  Similarly, Origin Sleep used tactics such as prompts stating “Other people want this. XX people have this in their carts now”, alongside countdown timers which said “Hurry! Your order is reserved for xxxx minutes”. CCS said these timers had no impact on product availability or the ability to complete purchases. Don’t miss: Why the wakeup call should have come long before the 25M devices ad fraud exposé  In addition, the mattress retailer also ran promotions marketed as time-limited offers such as “Up to 40% off”, which investigators found had continued for nearly two years under rotating campaign names, shifting from a “Flash sale” to themed promotions including Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year and “3.3 Mega Sale” campaigns. Light In The Box came under scrutiny following a referral from a European regulator, with CCS finding the retailer used “Almost sold out” labels despite operating largely on a made-to-order model with minimal inventory constraints. It was also found to have displayed discounted prices against higher “original” prices that were never actually offered, creating a misleading impression of savings. Investigations revealed that one retailer reportedly claimed its website was built using a third-party template, but CCS stressed that businesses remain responsible for compliance regardless of whether design systems are sourced externally or developed in-house. At the point of writing, checks by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE revealed that such tactics are no longer available on Boarding Gate and Light In The Box’s websites. In a statement on 18 May, CCS chief executive Alvin Koh said dark patterns are “insidious” as they are difficult to detect and erode consumer trust in digital markets. He added that the regulator will continue to take firm action against unfair practices. All three companies have provided undertakings to CCS, ceased the practices and committed to avoiding similar conduct in future, with Light In The Box also removing the misleading claims from its Singapore and European-facing platforms. The enforcement action signals tighter scrutiny of eCommerce practices that rely on manufactured urgency, scarcity and popularity signals, highlighting how such tactics are increasingly embedded in global online retail design. Consumers who encounter unfair trade practices can report them to the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE). MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Boarding Gate, Origin Sleep and Light In The Box for more.  The enforcement action comes against a backdrop of similar cases last year, when CCS took action against Courts and PRISM+ for comparable website practices that misled consumers. Courts was found to have automatically added unsolicited items into shoppers’ carts during promotional periods, while PRISM+ was flagged for using fake countdown timers, misleading stock indicators and inflated discount claims to create false urgency and influence purchasing decisions. Both companies have since provided undertakings to CCS, ceased the practices and rectified their websites. CCS said these earlier cases underscore that under Singapore’s fair-trading laws, businesses must ensure consumers clearly consent to all purchases and that claims relating to pricing, stock availability and urgency are truthful and not misleading. It added that enforcement actions against such “dark patterns” form part of its broader push to curb online practices that distort consumer decision-making. Caliper-style adjustable wrench accommodates every nut size on the fly

This new tool you’ll want on your belt looks like a Vernier caliper, but it’s actually designed to beat the traditional monkey wrench at its own game – and then some. Instead of rotating for adjusting its opening, the Renchi features jaws that slide along a linear axis with 12 locking plates for clamping force. It’s built for one-handed adjustment with a self-locking mechanism, so you can quickly slide and grip nuts of different sizes and get to work. Speaking of nuts, the Renchi can open its maws wide, up to 3.15 in (80 mm), and features serrated tips to stably grip bolts so you can take on all kinds of fasteners. Tokyo, Japan-based brand Kougu Box says the tool’s design – inspired by a patent from 1897 – with its locking plates makes light work of stubborn bolts and anything that needs a whole lot of torque. Renchi: The Modern Wrench Re-Engineered The Renchi is made from three types of steel, selected for high tensile strength and surface durability. It’s also heat-treated for a ‘ceramic-like’ finish that protects it from scratches. Weighing just 7.4 oz (210 g) with a slim profile, it’s easy to stash in your pocket or compact toolkit, and get into tight spots for precise work. The Renchi is made from three types of high-performance steel, drop-forged for extra strength, and heat-treated for a scratch-resistant finishKougu Box It may not look it, but this is actually a versatile multitool of sorts that makes it a worthwhile addition to your EDC loadout. The Renchi features a caliper with laser-etched imperial and metric scales, as well as a nut gauge. It can also serve as a clamping plier, and a gear hook to hang your bag and keep it off a dusty shop floor. Next, the angled jaw on the opposite side of the calipers can open bottles in a pinch; the edge of the outer jaw doubles as a box cutter. You can also use the Renchi with a standard hex bit when you need a high-leverage driver. The Renchi is also a nail puller, box cutter, hammer, and bottle opener – among other thingsKougu Box Clamp the jaws closed, and you’ve got a nail puller. In this state, the drop-forged Renchi is strong enough to be used as a hammer too. Lastly, you can easily take the whole tool apart, reassemble the jaws in reverse, and use it as a mechanical spreader to hold irregular-shaped objects while applying controlled outward pressure – making it useful for a range of craft projects. With all these features and a unique design that eliminates all the rattling and imprecise grips of conventional wrenches, this tool could find frequent use in your workshop. It’s currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter, where it’s discounted from its expected retail price of US$119 down to as little as $89. The jaws’ serrated tips provide plenty of friction for a strong grip on any kind of fastenerKougu Box All crowdfunding campaigns carry an element of risk, and this is Kougu Box’ first product on Kickstarter – so you’ll want to keep that in mind if you choose to back this campaign. For what it’s worth, the brand has extensively detailed the Renchi’s design and production process on its campaign page. It’s also racked up more than 400 backers at the time of writing. You will have to wait a good while for this one, though – deliveries are estimated to begin in March 2027. Orders will ship worldwide, and shipping costs will be calculated once the campaign ends.

LinkedIn Email Facebook Twitter WhatsApp The post 中國電力再創歷史新高 遼寧風電單日產量逾419萬度 appeared first on VeriMedia. source

Compact rugged phone aims to capture action adventures in 4K

Rugged phones are not for everyone. They’re generally huge and heavy, though most come with a long-life battery and all can withstand a beating. A relatively new name in the space has gone mini for a tough cookie that’s also an actioncam. Unlike the similar F116 Pro, the Eagle Pro 5G Mini appears to be going direct for sale rather than first dipping into the crowdfunding pool over on Kickstarter. The mini rugged comes from a company that you may have encountered but not known its name. Tirisen International Trading has worked with named brands across the smartphone, rugged phones, wearables and tablets spaces for almost two decades. A couple of years ago, it started Lagenio to bring its own products to customers – such as the “world’s thinnest 4G kids watch.” The Eagle Pro mini rugged phone with built-in actioncam on show at MWC 2026Lagenio The Eagle first flew at the 2026 World Mobile Congress in Barcelona in March, and the first batch of influencer reviews are starting to appear online – which likely signals an upcoming release window. It’s still quite chunky – at almost an inch thick (23 mm) – but doesn’t sport a large display like fellow rugged brethren such as the Oukitel WP61. The 4.-inch, 120-Hz, 550-nit screen topped in Gorilla Glass 5 makes this relatively pocket-friendly at 4.5 x 2.34 in ( 114.5 x 59.6 mm) and tipping the scales at 7.4 oz (210 g). But it’s around back where the real action is – literally. Along with a 50-megapixel main camera with autofocus and a F1/8 aperture is an ultra-wide actioncam built around a 1/2-inch-type IMX586 imaging sensor. The field of view comes in at 152.6 degrees through a F2.8 aperture. Both of theme modules can record 4K footage at up to 30 frames per second. There’s also a 1080p selfiecam holepunched in the display. Features such as horizon leveling, distortion correction and a self-developed stabilization algorithm help creators capture smooth action shots. And as you might expect from a rugged phone, the “Eagle Pro unlocks underwater recording for pool and shallow-water adventures” – it’s built to MIL-STD-810H endurance and temperature extremes. The Eagle Pro can survive drops onto concrete from 1.5 meters, being dunked in the drink for 30 minutes, can continue to operate in temps as low a -20 degrees C, and can play nice in the sand pit tooLagenio The handset sports a 3,700-mAh LiPo battery for “reliable daily usage for most tasks such as communication, navigation, and photography.” That’s reported to mean up to 33 hours of phone chatter, 11 hours of video playback, 230 minutes of 4K video recording or up to 8 hours of mobile gaming. Reverse charging allows the user to juice up other mobile gadgetry while out and about, and 33-W fast-charging is supported when the phone’s cells need a boost. Elsewhere, the Eagle Pro runs Android 16. It rolls with 12 GB of system memory with virtual expansion on tap from the 256 GB of internal storage. Up to 1 TB of microSD storage expansion can also be had. In addition to 5G mobile and space for dual nano-SIMs, 802.11ax Wi-Fi is baked in together with Bluetooth 5.4 and support for multiple global satellite systems. The product page linked below shows the tough compact as coming soon, but as we said earlier – online video reviews are starting to trickle through, which is usually a sign that retail launch is imminent. We’ve no word on pricing though we’d guess at somewhere around the US$300 mark. Product page: Lagenio Eagle Pro source
